The stretch of the Thames at Wallingford is one of the more beautiful locations along the River Thames. In July you can see Royal Swan Upping pass through Wallingford and they sometimes stop off if there are swans in the area. Royal Swan Upping is an annual ceremonial voyage along the River Thames in which a census of the swan population is taken. Royal Swan Uppers wear the scarlet uniform of Her Majesty The Queen and travel in traditional skiffs for the annual ceremony. During the summer months you can hire an electric boat from just in front of the Boat House, the popular riverside pub. From here is a pleasant cruise downstream to Goring and Streatley or upstream towards Benson and Shillingford.
